We had a fun week, full of activities and I’ve gathered my favourite pictures here for you.
Month: Feb 2017
Days out: Brixham Harbour and lunch at Rockfish
Over half term we visited Brixham Harbour in our loaned car from Snows Lexus. Forty five or so minutes from Exeter on the English Riviera, Brixham is a pretty little fishing port seeped in history. We drove through, parked to the right hand side of the harbour (as you look at it) and walked down to…
Why my next car will be an automatic – A week with a Lexus NX 300h
I’m not going to give you a full technical rundown of the car because that isn’t my expertise nor my forte. I am going to tell you what I think of it and why, as a family, we really enjoyed borrowing it.
Days out: Damien Hirst’s Verity, things to do in Ilfracombe & the beauty of Tarr Steps, Exmoor
Love Verity or loath her one thing is for sure; she is incredibly arresting. You can’t help but be awed by her powerful, dramatic presence over the harbour – she is HUGE (65ft in fact) and (in my humble opinion) she is perfect for the craggy landscape of Ilfracombe harbour on a stormy day.
Our February half term activities in Devon
We had a crazy week for February half term, here’s an overview of what we got up to..
Dinner and Jazz at Circa 1924, Exeter
We discovered that Circa infuse their own spirits, and the first thing I was recommended was the jalapeño Gin, which – despite my initial concern about starting the evening with burnt tastebuds – was absolutely divine, all the flavour of of a jalapeño pepper without any of the heat (they take the seeds out) it was superb and incredibly morish.
On the wishlist: A wood burning stove from Dean Forge (as seen at Piper’s Farm)
On Wednesday evening I was invited to Piper’s Farm with some of Exeter’s finest food writers to hear about – and taste the food cooked on – one of Dean Forge‘s wood burning stoves. It was a perfect pairing of homegrown businesses. Dean Forge are a family owned and with forty years of experience under their belt they are…
Tea & Cakes in Teignmouth
You’ve probably noticed that we are fans of Teignmouth, it has a lot to offer as a local seaside town. We have been visiting frequently of late because my Mum might like to live there & it has a brilliant skate park, perfect for the kids to play on with their Christmas presents. We were…

Bear Fitness: Getting down and dirty with Fran at The Bear Trail, Cullompton
This is a post by our new blogger Fran! Fran is originally from Doncaster and when she moved to Exeter in 2005 for a new job, she was told that ‘once people move to Devon, they never leave!’ It Turns out those people were right, she has been here ever since and loves the laid back way of life. Fran believes that fresh air is the best therapy for creating a little headspace, trying new things and having some fun. And that is what she likes to write about! This week she went to The Bear Trail to get muddy (it’s not just for kids you know).
